It is time for a big high five at Constantia Flexibles for winning a WorldStar Award for five different packaging solutions this year! The WorldStar is an international award that is presented only to those packages which, having already won recognition in a national competition, are compared by an expert panel of judges to similar packages from around the world.
“We are very proud to receive five WorldStars for our clever flexible packaging solutions that we developed for our customers,” says Alexander Baumgartner, CEO of Constantia Flexibles. “This is a great acknowledgement of the dedicated work my colleagues have put into creating and producing these packaging items and shows once more that we are People, Passion, Packaging! Congratulations to everyone involved”.
And these are the winners!
Bone-Shape Container with high-end printing:
The bone-shaped container pack, designed for wet dog food, has a powerful shelf appearance and message. The entire aluminum foil pack, created by Constantia Flexibles for German pet food manufacturer saturn petcare, is also printed to underline bones as favorite snacks for a dog. Printing on the container sidewall not only underpins the bone shaped theme, it can prevent dents and irregularities from being visible. Other consumer friendly features include the ergonomic shape for easy opening and one hundred percent recyclability. The lightweight empty trays are easy to stack and transport too.
Revolutionary hot-embossing technology is used to create the CompresSeal film that has a higher seal integrity than standard polyethylene and weighs up to 30% less, while still having the same thickness as standard packaging. In addition, it ensures not only tighter packs, but also constant processing on packaging lines in winter and summer.
Healthy Bars: Glittering Muesli bar packaging
This glittering packaging material was especially developed for Healthy Bars. What makes this packaging so special, is that many effects come together in a cold seal duplex packaging: Matt, glossy, glittering. This structure was produced in one converting machine as inline. This means that the product has high quality at a rather low cost. All these effects make the finished product stand out on the market shelves.
Ready-to-eat cakes – Cakees:
The German company “Bäckerei Stiebling” needed a sustainable pack to protect its Cakees range of innovative cake products. Constantia Flexibles developed a sealed aluminum container system, which offers a shelf life of up to one year and excellent barrier properties.
Using this packaging system means absolutely no cold chain is required, so no freezer in the outlets or defrosting by the consumer. The cake is immediately ready to serve, as it is always at the right temperature and contains no artificial preservatives. All in all this is an excellent combination of traditional recipes, modern food technology and high performance packaging.
Constantia Flexibles and ABInBev: Capsule for beer flavor dispenser
“Capsule for beer flavor dispenser” is a clever aluminum capsule system, containing liquid flavor syrup, specially designed for a unique beer dispensing technology. The system, which allows serving multiple drink options from a single beer keg in pubs, is a joint development by ABInBev and Constantia Flexibles.
The fully recyclable capsule offers beer flavoring at the point of dispensing, with high barrier qualities, to avoid the scalping/degradation of sensitive and concentrated flavors in individual syrups over the whole shelf-life. A major consideration was the piercing performance of the aluminum foil lids in the new dispensing system.
ABOUT THE WORLDSTAR AWARDS
The pre-eminent international award in packaging, WorldStar illustrates the continual advancement of the state of our packaging art and creates a living standard of international packaging excellence from which others may learn.
WorldStars are presented only to those packages which, having already won recognition in a national competition, are compared by an expert panel of judges to similar packages from around the world. Awards are based on the judges' consensus that a package is superior in its own right, and better in its class in execution or innovation by comparison.
